I've been going it alone for the last month, and I'm excited to say that my hubby is coming home tomorrow! He's been off sleeping in a tent somewhere in Spain on Army business, and I've been on 24/7 baby duty. As much as I love my little hair pulling bundle of joy, I need a break. I don't know how you single moms do it.
So let's take a second to talk about some ofthe wonderful things that will happen in my life when Robert comes home.
#1 I'll be able to take a shower without the baby crawling around the tub and turning up the hot water. A shower alone... I'd have never thought it possible.
#2 Sleep in day. At least once when the baby wakes up at 6:00 a.m. I will say- "It's your turn, honey" and then go back to sleep.
#3 Speaking of "It's your turn," dirty diapers. Enough said.
#4 And clean clothes! Robert's been gone for a month and I've done my laundry once. I'm running out of clothes.
#5 Dinner. When the hubby leaves I get really excited about having brie and wine for dinner every night. By the time he comes back, I'm dying for real food but still too lazy to cook it. Having him home gives me the motivation to actually put some food on the table every now and then.
#5 The daily recap. It feels so weird to have something exciting happen and not be able to tell him till weeks later. Robert may not always be the best listener, but he sure does better than the baby and the dog.
#6. Editing photos without the fear of little man coming over and turning off the computer. That power button is just so dang interesting.
Being an army wife means being good at going at it alone. Riley and I have a system that works (except that it involves me staying till midnight every night editing) and we are doing fine on our own. But it sure will be nice to have a little company.
And the best part? Tomorrow, when we pick up Robert, I'll be able to see Riley's face light up when he sees his dad again for the first time. That's the real reason I'm excited- to have our little family be whole again.
